Upgrading from 10G BASE-T to 25G BASE-T is the current trend The Alpha Networks debuts the first 48-port 25G BASE-T Ethernet switch in the world

Alpha Networks was invited to showcase its 48-port 25G BASE-T Ethernet switch (SNC-60x0-486T) at the DesignCon 2021 held in the San Jose McEnery Convention Center from August 16 to 18, 2021 in conjunction with FIT Hon Teng's 25G BASE-T RJ45. The Alpha Networks' SNC-60x0-486T switch is the world's first 25G twisted pair transmission switch. In response to the needs of 5G, IoV, AI, big data calculation, and self-driving, the new product offers a more economical and efficient alternative for our clients to upgrade to 10G BASE-T in the future in accommodating their needs for edge computing and long-term deployments.

According to the 2019 Crehan and 2020 Dell-Oro report, more than 60 million 10G BASE-T switches and servers have been installed in data centers around the globe. It is estimated that the number of upgrades from 10G BASE-T to 25G BASE-T switches will increase from 170,000 units in 2021 to 6 million units in 2025, indicating the inevitable trend of upgrading from 10G BASE-T to 25G BASE-T. Meanwhile, the market share of 25G BASE-T is expected to grow from 5% in 2021 to 75% in 2025.

According to Alpha Networks General Manager Lin Yu-Chin, the Company has commenced developing the 25G BASE-T in early 2020, but the product launch was postponed until now due to the pandemic. Alpha expects to ally with leading network server providers in the industry to provide customers with customized, flexible, easy to install and cost-effective, high-quality products to embrace the market trend and satisfy their requirements and engender a win-win situation.

IEEE 802.3bq defines the 25G BASE-T/40G BASE-T's physical layer and management parameters, enabling communication with higher data transmission rates through copper cables, in turn catering to more application needs with 25G BASE-T. The Alpha Networks have complied with IEEE 802.3bq specifications and adopted FIT Hon Teng's 25G Integrated RJ45, which is downward compatible with 10G products, thereby reducing the number of factors to consider when investing in new assets.

Product features of Alpha's 25G BASE-T (SNC-60x0-486T) switch:

1.     The world's first 25G BASE-T (48x25GBASE-T + 6x100G QSFP28) switch

2.     Seamless upgrade from 10G BASE-T to 25G BASE-T system

3.     Downward compatible with 10G BASE-T while allowing for the flexible upgrade to 25G BASE-T for ToR/MoR needs of data centers
