Open broadband network access equipment - Alpha Networks Inc. successfully obtained certification with Chunghwa Telecom

Alpha Networks has engaged in the field of broadband network since 2003, and we have delivered over 10 million networking equipment globally. In terms of Optical Network Unit (ONU) for Passive Optical Network (PON), Alpha’s products have evolved from EPON, GPON to high-speed XGS-PON. Furthermore, Alpha has accumulated a wealth of experience and garnered the trust of our customers in Europe, the USA, and Japan. We also engaged in project design with major telecommunication service providers.

As the concept of “open network structure” emerges in the telecom industry, domestic and international telecom operators no longer want to be limited by dedicated access interface of the traditional equipment manufacturers. Instead, they hope to use products from multiple software and hardware suppliers, where open radio access authorization offers compatibility between different suppliers’ equipment, thereby providing telecom operators with more flexibility in procuring mobile communication infrastructure. The aim is to foster diversity within the supply chain. The supply chain of the open broadband access network market is gradually taking shape.

Chunghwa Telecom Laboratories organized an open broadband access network proof of concept based on its experience in GPON interconnected technology integration, and Alpha Networks’ XGS-PON ONU 34000B was used as the interface for the open broadband access network system, successfully demonstrating the Company’s Gbps-class high-speed broadband and high-quality MOD service.

Alpha’s ONU PON34000B offers the following features:

2.     Supports XGS-PON fiber optic port

3.     Supports 10G network port

4.     Dual-color LED indicator design

5.     Reset switch design

6.     Power switch design

7.     Operating temperature range (0~45°C)

The open network development has injected new energy into the network communication industry. According to Alpha Networks General Manager Lin Yu-Chin, Alpha has vigorously accrued strength in storage and relevant technologies; as the open network gradually becomes more mature and the ecological environment becomes more sophisticated, the telecom operators’ willingness to incorporate the products into their future plan has also risen.
